“WFH” has officially become a 2020 buzzword. But while many were initially super stoked to begin telecommuting, some are beginning to realise that working from home isn’t always as conducive as we like.

If you have your own bachelor pad, that’s a different story. But for those who are still living with their parents or share a home with other family members and/or tenants, there may be many distractions getting in the way of your work.

The solution? “Work from hotel”.

That’s right, many local hotels are opening up their luxurious compounds for workers to work at (at a fee, of course). This makes a lot of sense, especially since leisure travel is still restricted and hotels only have staycay customers for income. They have to find a way to somehow monetise those facilities, right?

Here are the various work-from-hotel packages in Singapore if you're considering taking your work outside:

1. Lyf Funan - $70++ for 10 hours

Let’s start with some of the more pocket-friendly options. Lyf Funan is offering guests use of their studio work suite for $70++ (9am to 7pm). There are also more spacious options for bigger groups: 2BR apartment $150++ (up to 3 pax) and 4BR apartment $250++ (up to 4 pax).

To book this package, you should book a single night’s stay, and input the promo code ‘WORKSPACE’.

2. InterContinental Singapore - from $85++ per pax

Unlike most of the rest which only have one (super expensive) WFH package, InterContinental Singapore has three options at different price points.

The cheapest is the Go Virtual Meeting Package, which is $85++ per pax. What you get is usage of a private meeting space (up to five pax, min. 2 pax) from 7am to 7pm. There’s coffee and tea, with individual snack boxes and a lunch bento to boot. There are also presentation equipment like screens, LCD projector and laptops.

If you have more guests and want to book per room to save costs, there’s the Standard package. Instead of a meeting space you get access to a guest room (which you can share), where there’s Wi-Fi, writing materials, iced water and mints. There’s also a swanky in-room Nespresso machine with 5 pods per day and TWG tea sachets. The price includes bento lunch for one guest, but you have the option to add on a second occupant at $25.00++.

The Executive package ($200++ per room) is the most expensive, and it’s similar to the Standard one, except instead of a bento lunch you get a two-course meal from Ash & Elm. Again, you can add one a second occupant at $30++.

3. Marriott Tang Plaza - $120++ for 12 hours

How about working in the heart of Orchard Road? Marriott Tang Plaza is offering a “Work in Style. Stay Connected” room package for $120++. For that price, you get access to the guest room for 12 hours, from 7am to 7pm. Inside, there is in-room coffee and tea facilities and of course, complimentary wifi. There’s no food included, but you do get 30% of the F&B menu.

If you have a few hours to skive, you also have access to the swimming pool and fitness gym (by appointment). For those who drive, you’ll also enjoy complimentary parking.

4. Crowne Plaza at Changi Airport - $160++ for 8 hours

There’s just something about the Changi Airport that every Singaporean loves. If you’d like to experience how it’ll feel to work there - without, you know, actually getting a job in the airport - you can go for Crowne Plaza’s Work from Hotel package.

For $160++, you can enjoy an 8-hour day use of the Deluxe Room (between 7am to 7pm). The room will come with a safety amenity kit (face masks and hand sanitiser), as well as complimentary Wi-Fi, coffee and tea. You will receive $30 (nett) dining credit too.

If this isn’t fancy enough for you, you can top up $20++ for an upgrade to the Premium Room.

5. Sofitel Singapore - $190++ for 8 hours

Perhaps one of the more luxe options in this WFH list, Sofitel Singapore offers a Work from Hotel Guest Room package at a whopping $190++. That’s pretty expensive, and can actually buy you a decent staycay in a less ‘atas’ hotel.

In addition to the usual beverages and wifi, Sofitel’s WFH packages come with a complimentary mini bar. But that’s about it - no dining credits or discounts.

6. Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium - $200 nett for 12 hours

Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium is a 4-four star hotel, which is why it’s surprising that their WFH package prices seem to rival other more premium hotels in town. Their Work from Hotel package is $200 nett, and grants you access to a meeting room for 12 hours (7am to 7pm).

There are the usual suspects (complimentary parking, wifi, and some refreshments), but food is chargeable. It’s an extra $8 for bento lunch or dinner.

7. Fullerton Hotel and Fullerton Bay - from $210 nett for 12 hours

Fullerton’s two hotels - Fullerton Hotel and Fullerton Bay Hotel - are both offering Work from Hotel packages as well. As expected of a 5-star hotel group, the rates are steep: It’s $210 nett for Fullerton Hotel and $300 nett for Fullerton Bay.

For the above price, you may work at the hotel for 12 hours (between 7am to 11pm). The package will come with $50 (nett) dining credit, in-room Nespresso coffee, TWG tea and complimentary parking. You may also utilise the fitness gym and swimming pool, which is a nice bonus.

Note: The Work from Hotel package is no longer listed on the two Fullerton Hotel sites. To check availability, please call the hotel.

Many of these packages are limited-time offers valid until the end of the year. We don’t know if these hotels will continue allowing day use of their facilities once things go back to normal, so hey, why not right? While it’s definitely not cost effective to book a hotel room to work at every day, it may be worth a try if you’re looking for a change in scenery.
