If you can apply for your credit cards, insurance and almost most of your financial products online, why not fixed deposit? After all, you can compare between different banks for their fixed deposit accounts, but you know what’s missing? A direct, online route to actually apply for it online, rather than visit a bank to open a fixed deposit account.

Maybe, just maybe, someone out there heard our plea. Starting from today, you can apply online for a fixed deposit account through CIMB Bank.

Dubbed the CIMB Fast Fixed Deposit, it’s the first of many online services that CIMB Bank will be rolling out to consumers in the months to come. The new service is touted to be fast, convenient and efficient, serving the needs of consumers who have increasingly less time to perform their banking needs offline.

“Recognizing this change in how our clients are banking with us, CIMB is moving towards adopting a technology-based way of banking so that customers can do it anywhere, anytime at their convenience,” said Mr Mak Lye Mun, Country Head, Singapore, and Chief Executive Officer, CIMB Bank Singapore.

Snaking queues at banks will be a thing of the past as customers won’t have to physically visit a CIMB Bank branch to apply for a fixed deposit. The process is simple too - just fill in your details via an online application form to open a fixed deposit account, together with a CIMB FastSaver (online savings).

If that isn’t enough to make you want to get on board the fixed deposit train, here’s something to sweeten the deal - a 1.8% p.a. promotional interest rate with a 12-month tenure if you apply online from now to 31 July.

This makes it one of the highest interest offered to fixed deposit customers in Singapore. Not convinced? This should help:

Tenure 3-months 6-months 12-months

These rates are applicable as long as their accounts are opened and funded within the promotional period.
