When the school holidays come around, you’ll be planning on where to take them on a trip. But what if you are unable to travel out of the country for some reason and yet you want to do something together with the kids? Fret not - there are in fact many options available within the country. You would by now be familiar with the term ‘staycation’. Staycations are popular with Singaporeans for a quick break and they can be equally fun as overseas trips.We bring you a list of options for the coming holidays:

1) D'Kranji Farm Resort

What's there:

Located in the west part of Singapore, D’Kranji Farm Resort is a working farm where children can learn about the various fruits and plants unique to Singapore.  In addition, Prawn Fishing (Oceania) is a fishing village where fishing and prawning are taught on-site. Hourly charges apply, including rental of equipment and bait. Visit the Swiftlet Garden Museum where one can learn about swiftlets, the bird species responsible for producingthe edible bird’s nest we are familiar with.

After a day of sightseeing, hop over to the Nopphawan Massage and Spa where trained masseurs will work away your body aches and knots with traditional therapies. If you wish to explore further with your family, take a short drive to the nearby Hay Dairies Goat Farm and Jurong Frog Farm.

2) Hard Rock Hotel @Sentosa

Rock n roll enthusiasts can view the 120 pieces of memorabilia exhibited here.  Children will enjoy themselves at the free-form swimming pool or at the Kids Club which is brimming with activities for kids agedthree and above. 4) Fullerton Hotel

Formerly the General Post Office until its conversion to a luxury hotel in 2001, Fullerton Hotel offers enticing food packages where families can enjoy sumptuous food and experience food different from the usual fare. Try the chocolate buffet or sumptuous afternoon high tea.  Families can also head down to the Asian Civilisations Museum, Esplanade and other nearby city attractions.  Or take a river cruise and learn about the history of some of Singapore’s landmark bridges around the city area.

5) D'Resort @ Downtown East

6) Rider's Lodge

You don’t have to travel to Australia or Europe to get a taste of countryside living.
