Using a credit card is all about future spending. And savings too. Because if you are going to spend quite a bit on Uber or Grab rides, that same amount can help you accumulate either rebates or air miles, depending on which you prefer.
So if you're in the market to find the perfect card for your Grab rides, Bear has that neatly sorted out for you in our comprehensive credit card comparison.

Score by FairPrice and Grab promo
If you pay a monthly fee for your telco bills and Netflix monthly subscription, wouldn't it make sense to do so for your Grab rides? That's where Score by FairPrice and Grab comes in.
Ah, before you jump in glee, this is more of a Lazada LiveUp situation, where you get additional benefits for a membership. But the benefits do make sense if you look at it from the Grab perspective:
- Upon completing 4 non-discounted Grab rides, you get 20% discount on rides, capped at $4 per ride, up to 30 rides per month
- 50% off all Grab rides, capped at $6, up to 5 redemptions on the third Monday of every calendar month
Cost and savings example
Let's say you spend $20 per ride from your house to the office. Assuming you're so hardworking that you go to work every single day, that's 20 days, making it a total of 40 rides. $800 is quite a substantial amount.
Let's not forget about the $29.99 annual subscription for Score, which will amount to $2.50 per month.
With Score, based on the above example, you get the following discounts:
- 50% off rides on the third Monday, which is capped at $6. With two rides, that's $12.
- 20% off rides for the remainder. Factoring in the first four full priced rides and the abovementioned 50% discount, you get the full 30 rides that has a 20% discount, which amounts to $120 of savings.
That amounts to $132 of savings per month, reducing your monthly Grab cost from $802.50 to $670.50.
Still way cheaper than driving a car.
Note that Score's annual subscription is currently a promo rate, which reverts to $49.90 when you subscribe from the second year onwards.
Grab promo with Lazada LiveUp
Lazada's LiveUp membership provides more than free delivery for your purchases from the online retailer. The free delivery also applies to delivery from foodpanda and Redmart, plus up to four months of free Netflix.
Then, there's also the Grab discount. By linking your Lazada LiveUp and Grab accounts, you will get $10 off for every 10 Grab rides, regardless of the Grab fare.
You can claim this $10 for up to six times till the end of the year. That's $60 off, for a LiveUp membership cost of $29.90 per year.
Again, just like Score, the LiveUp membership is also at a promo rate, after which it'll be $49.90 per year. But considering how much you'll save from the free delivery and Grab discounts, it's definitely worth it.
Bonus: cab promo codes
Riding-hailing apps, though convenient, come with a huge caveat - surge pricing. Given that surge pricing can hit almost 3x more than normal, no user in their right mind would pay for that. Well, except for those who are really desperate.
But really, don't stick to a Grab ride if it's going to cost you $50 to get home from Orchard to Tampines. That's just throwing money down the drain.
The best option at this point is to either join the taxi queue for a metered fare or use the ComfortDelGro app to call for a metered cab.
Yes, metered cab. Believe or not, there are now more promo codes available on te ComfortDelGro app.
